The short version: we collect very little, we do not sell anything, and you can ask us to delete what we have.

Privacy policy

Your privacy matters to us.

We collect as little as we can, use it only to serve you and never sell it. Here is what happens to the information you share with Big Pine United Methodist Church through this website.

Who we are

This website is run by Big Pine United Methodist Church, 280 Key Deer Blvd., Big Pine Key, FL 33043. If you have a question about this policy or your information, call (305) 872-2470, email pastor@bigpineumc.com or use our contact page.

Information you choose to share

When you send us a message

Our contact form asks for your name, email address and your message. It is saved on our website and sent to Pastor Rushing so he can reply. Requests to use a room are shared with our Board of Trustees for review. We do not add you to any mailing list because you sent a message.

When you join our email list

Our weekly newsletter is sent through Brevo, an email service. Brevo keeps your name and email address so we can send it to you. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can leave the list at any time.

When you turn on notifications

If you allow browser notifications from our site, they are delivered through Brevo's web push service. It stores a device code for your browser, not your name or email address. You can turn notifications off at any time in your browser's settings.

When you give online

Online gifts are handled by PayPal on its own secure site. PayPal shares a record of your gift with us, such as your name, email address and the amount, so we can thank you and provide giving statements. We never see or store your card or bank details.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our web host and security tools record basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. We use it only to keep the site running, secure and free of spam. We do not use advertising trackers.

We also use Brevo, the service that sends our newsletter, to see which pages are visited on our site and whether our emails are opened. If you are on our email list, this activity can be connected to your email address. We use it only to make our church updates more helpful, never for advertising, and you can unsubscribe from our emails at any time.

Our site also uses a small number of cookies. You can read about them and change your choices on our cookie preferences page.

What we never do

  • We never sell, rent or trade your information.
  • We never share it with advertisers.
  • We never publish your contact details, prayer requests or anything you share with the pastor without your permission.

Other websites

Our site links to services such as Facebook, YouTube, PayPal and Google Maps. When you visit them, their own privacy policies apply, not ours.

Children

Our website is meant for adults and families, not for children on their own. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices

You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or to stop contacting you. Just call or email the church, and we will take care of it.

We keep information only as long as we need it to serve you and to maintain normal church records.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.

We are glad to explain anything on this page or help with a request about your information.
